A Story of Triumph Over Adversity
With a passion for education and a deep commitment to service, I have dedicated my life to shaping young minds and advocating for teachers. I entered the teaching profession in 2004, driven by a love for learning and a desire to make a difference. My journey in education led me to the role of Principal in 2017, a position I continue to hold with pride and dedication.
Beyond my professional career, I am a devoted Kiwanian, committed to community service and youth empowerment. I am also an active and engaged member of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association and currently serve as the President of the St. Catherine Teachers’ Association for the 2024-2025 Conference Year.
My personal journey has been one of resilience and perseverance. Becoming a mother at 15 was an emotional challenge for both me and my family, especially as the daughter of two educators. While I had financial support, the emotional strain was immense, and the reactions from my peers and loved ones made the experience even more difficult. However, I found strength through the Women’s Centre Foundation of Jamaica, where I received invaluable counselling and guidance.
Today, I am the proud mother of three beautiful children—two daughters and one son—who continue to inspire me every day. My story is one of triumph over adversity, and I use my experiences to encourage young people, especially young mothers, to rise above challenges and pursue their dreams.
